Comfort · Silver · Today

American Leather sleepers.
Explained.

Beautiful on the outside. Brilliant underneath. Understand the engineering behind Comfort Sleeper®, Silver Sleeper®, and Today Sleeper® before you choose the silhouette.

Compare the three systems ↓

Start with what you cannot see

A sofa name tells you the look.
The system tells you how it lives.

Two American Leather sofas can share a familiar silhouette and offer different sleeping experiences. The important distinction is not simply the arm shape or fabric: it is the sleeper system inside, the mattress choices it supports, and the space it needs when open.

This guide compares American Leather’s three residential sleeper collections so you can make those decisions in the right order: system first, fit second, upholstery last.

The short answer

Start with Today Sleeper for the entry price point and self-storing cushions, Silver Sleeper for the middle of the range with two foam options, and Comfort Sleeper for the broadest mattress choice, including TEMPUR-PEDIC®.

01 / Three distinct approaches

Compare the sleeper systems.

Each collection solves the day-to-night transition differently. The photographs show representative mechanisms; the sofa style and upholstery you order may differ.

Accessible starting point

Today Sleeper®

A practical starting point in the American Leather range. High-density, high-resilience foam creates the sleeping surface, and the cushions self-store as the sofa transforms.

Look closer: an 80-inch sleeping surface and sizes from cot through king, depending on the model.

The middle of the range

Silver Sleeper®

A useful comparison when you want more mattress choice without moving to the premium system. Choose standard high-density, high-resilience foam or a foam option with a cooling-gel topper.

Look closer: four sizes from twin through queen plus, with an 82-inch overall open depth.

The premium sleep platform

Comfort Sleeper®

The Tiffany 24/7™ platform supports the mattress without the bars and springs of a conventional sleeper bed. Three mattress options let you make a more deliberate choice about feel.

02 / The comfort inside

Choose the feel.
Not just the upgrade.

Comfort Sleeper offers three mattress choices. American Leather’s current brand overview describes Cooling Gel as plush and TEMPUR-PEDIC as firm; HiPerform uses carbon-fiber-reinforced foam with Crypton® ticking.

A higher-priced option is not automatically the right feel for every guest. Ask to compare the available samples or display models, and confirm which mattress is included in your quote.

Comfort Sleeper option 01

HiPerform

Carbon-fiber-reinforced foam with Crypton ticking. A useful starting point when comparing the available mattress options.

Comfort Sleeper option 02

Cooling Gel

The plush option in the brand overview. Consider it when your preference leans toward a softer sleeping feel.

Comfort Sleeper option 03

TEMPUR-PEDIC

The firm option in the brand overview. Compare it in person where available rather than choosing on the name alone.

03 / Design for both modes

Measure the room twice.
Order once.

A sleeper has two footprints: the sofa you use during the day and the bed you open at night. Mattress size alone does not tell you either footprint.

The Silver Sleeper’s 82-inch open depth describes the furniture from back to front when extended. The 80-inch dimension quoted for Comfort and Today refers to the sleeping surface. Keep those measurements separate when comparing floor plans.

Measure 01

The closed sofa

Check overall width, depth, and height. Arm style affects the outside dimensions even when the mattress size is the same.

Measure 02

The open bed

Mark the full extension with painter’s tape. Check doors, drawers, side tables, and where the coffee table will move.

Measure 03

The delivery route

Measure doorways, stair turns, hallways, and elevator openings. Ask about disassembly and installation for your exact model.

04 / The finish you live with

American Leather.
Not only leather.

The brand offers both fabrics and leathers. Start with how the room is used, then choose a surface you enjoy touching and looking at every day. A pale fabric, a textured bouclé, and a naturally marked leather can all be beautiful—but they ask different things of their owner.

For fabric, look beyond the grade.

American Leather separates its fabrics into lifestyle, technical performance, and livable luxury categories. Performance options include selected Crypton, Sunbrella®, InsideOut®, Ultrasuede®, and FibreGuard fabrics.

A higher fabric grade does not automatically mean better stain resistance. Check the exact fabric’s care instructions and performance features. Texture and price are not substitutes for that information.

For leather, choose your relationship with patina.

The brand groups leathers by protection level. More protected options generally suit customers who want easier upkeep; lightly protected specialty leathers showcase natural character and can develop more visible patina.

Decide how you feel about natural markings and changes with use. No leather should be treated as scratch-proof or maintenance-free.

Now choose the silhouette

One look.
Different possibilities.

Alora is listed at Modern Studio in Today, Silver, and Comfort versions—a useful example of why the full product name matters. Compare the system, dimensions, mattress, and upholstery on each product instead of assuming matching names mean matching specifications.

05 / Before you decide

The questions worth asking.

What is the difference between Comfort, Silver, and Today Sleeper?

They are separate sleeper systems, not simply upholstery packages. Today is the entry price point with self-storing cushions; Silver sits in the middle with two foam choices; Comfort uses the Tiffany 24/7 platform and offers HiPerform, Cooling Gel, and TEMPUR-PEDIC mattresses. Compare the exact style and size within each collection.

Does every American Leather sleeper have a TEMPUR-PEDIC mattress?

No. It is an available Comfort Sleeper option, not a standard feature across all three systems. Check your selected mattress and any upgrade cost on the quote.

Which American Leather sleeper is best for a small room?

The one whose closed dimensions, open depth, and circulation space fit your floor plan. A compact-looking arm does not guarantee the shortest open footprint. Send Modern Studio your room measurements and preferred sleeping size so we can compare specific models.

Is the 82-inch Silver Sleeper measurement the mattress length?

No. The brand overview specifies 82 inches as the overall depth when opened. Compare that with other models’ open-depth specifications—not with the 80-inch sleeping-surface length quoted for Comfort and Today.

Can the sleeper be taken apart for delivery?

Disassembly is an important feature to discuss, especially for Comfort Sleeper, but it is not a guarantee that every configuration will fit every route. Have the exact model, entry measurements, and installation requirements reviewed before ordering.

How long will my custom sleeper take to arrive?

Ask for a current estimate for the exact configuration and delivery destination. Factory production time is only one part of the process; upholstery availability, freight, and final delivery scheduling also matter.

Where can I get help choosing an American Leather sleeper?
