Barlow Tyrie Rothesay teak seat on a garden terrace

    Heritage

    A century of English teak.

In 1920 Frederick Barlow and Victor Tyrie started their own business in London, first in Walthamstow and then in a converted horse stable in Leytonstone. In the early years the furniture was made almost entirely by hand, and it took the most efficient worker at least a full day to make one teak seat.

The London and Rothesay seats from the 1920s catalogue are still made today. The company is still family-owned and managed by Victor Tyrie’s son Peter and grandsons Mark and James, and has exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for over 40 years.

    Living with teak

Let it silver, or keep it golden.

Left untreated outdoors, teak weathers naturally to a soft silver-grey. Barlow Tyrie publishes care sheets for teak, stainless steel, aluminium, cushions and parasols, and every product page links the relevant documents. Ask us about covers and care when you order.

    Questions

    Barlow Tyrie FAQ

Where is Barlow Tyrie furniture made?

Barlow Tyrie is a British company founded in London in 1920 and headquartered in Braintree, Essex. Its US office, Barlow Tyrie Inc, is in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Where does the teak come from?

Barlow Tyrie uses grade A plantation-grown teak (Tectona grandis) from Indonesia. The supply is covered by Indonesia’s SVLK timber legality system and the FLEGT licensing scheme.

Why do some products say Inquire instead of a price?

Barlow Tyrie publishes US list prices for only part of its range. Where we don’t have an official list price, we quote each piece and configuration personally. Use the inquiry button and we’ll reply with price and lead time.

Can I choose frame colors, slings and cushion fabrics?

Yes. Product pages show the official frame finishes, sling colors and cushion fabrics for each piece. Sunbrella Rain® upgrades show their official surcharge where Barlow Tyrie publishes one.

    How long does delivery take?

Barlow Tyrie pieces are made to order, so lead time depends on the item and finish. We confirm it with your order.
