Chapter one

The story

Cerno was founded in 2009 by three lifelong friends who grew up making things, rebuilding boats, and exploring the Southern California coast together. When advances in LED technology opened new possibilities for efficient, beautiful light, they set out to design and build original fixtures close to home.

That independence still defines Cerno. Design, prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly remain closely connected in California, allowing ideas to move from sketch to finished fixture with unusual clarity and control. The brand’s lighting sits at the intersection of modernism and contemporary design—warm, architectural, and unmistakably material.
