Chapter one

The story

Ethnicraft’s story began in 1995, when Antwerp entrepreneur Philippe Delaisse returned from Indonesia with a single container of furniture and decorative objects. His longtime friend Benoit Loos soon joined him, and one year later Ethnicraft was founded.

The partners quickly moved from importing to designing and producing their own furniture, beginning with a solid teak collection made in Indonesia. More than twenty-five years later, Ethnicraft has grown into an internationally recognized Belgian brand while staying focused on the same idea: contemporary pieces with character, made from quality materials that transcend trends and become more beautiful through use.

What sets it apart

Craft and materials

Solid wood is central to Ethnicraft’s identity, especially oak and teak selected for their grain, warmth, and ability to develop character over time. Traditional woodworking and hand-carving knowledge meet clean contemporary forms, while natural variation ensures that each piece retains an individual presence.
