Choosing a flush mount ceiling light

Flush mount ceiling lights sit tight to the ceiling, which makes them the practical choice for bedrooms, hallways, baths, closets and rooms with 8-foot ceilings. This collection brings together 234 flush and semi-flush fixtures from ET2 Lighting, Studio M Lighting, Hammerton Studio, Pablo Designs and Cerno, from compact 7-inch LED rounds to 48-inch linear fixtures.

How big should a flush mount be?

A common rule of thumb: add the room’s length and width in feet and use the total as the fixture’s diameter in inches. A 10 × 12 ft bedroom, for example, suits a fixture of roughly 22 inches. Long hallways usually look better with two or more smaller fixtures than with one large one.

    Flush or semi-flush?

A flush mount sits directly against the ceiling and keeps the most headroom, so it is the safer choice for 8-foot ceilings and walkways. A semi-flush mount drops a few inches on a short stem or canopy, adding a little more presence and spreading light across the ceiling; it generally suits rooms with 9-foot ceilings or higher. Check each fixture’s overall height (OAH) on the product page before you order.

    Brightness, color temperature and dimming

Delivered lumens tell you how bright a fixture is, and they are listed on each product page. Warm white (2700K–3000K) suits most living spaces; most ET2 and Studio M fixtures we carry are 3000K, and some are “CCT select,” so you choose the color temperature at installation. Dimming varies by model, so confirm the listed dimmer type if you plan to dim.
